Men’s Club

Welcome to TEC’s Men’s Club

The Mission of TEC’s Men’s Club is to engage men in Jewish life, and in so doing to enrich our Temple Etz Chaim family. Our club is affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC), a group of over 250 clubs with over 20,000 members in Conservative/Masorti synagogues around the world.

We come together to get involved in Jewish living and help address family and community concerns, in a spirit of camaraderie and fun. Together, we sponsor community events; tutor children to build and put on Tefillin; build the Temple’s Sukkah; and engage in serious discussions about being a man in an increasingly egalitarian world. We cultivate volunteers and train leaders; sponsor parent-child activities and wellness events; commemorate Yom HaShoah; and at every Shabbat and High Holidays services, you can find a Men’s Club member serving as an Usher to greet congregants. Our major signature event is the Temple’s annual Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) program, which brings scholars of Judaism and other relevant contemporary issues to TEC for an entire weekend of discussion, engagement, and learning (see below).

Participating in Men’s Club means doing serious things for your family and the Jewish Community while having fun with like-minded guys in our community.  Did you know that:

  • Involvement in our Men’s Club helps us to be better role models for our children.
  • Being active in our Men’s Club serves the needs of our congregation and leads to greater involvement in our synagogue.
  • Our club’s programs, resources, and initiatives enable us to address the critical issues that we, as men, must tackle in our lives.

We have a place for you!

All our activities were started by men like you – some activities we do regularly; others are available for you to innovate and lead.  We’re open to men of all ages, from those with young families to those whose families are fully grown, and everything in between.  Our Men’s Club is open to all male Temple members whether Jews by birth, Jews by choice, or simply exploring the options that Judaism has to offer. We are also open to all members of the community who are interested in a Jewish fellowship but may not be ready to join a synagogue.

There are many ways to get involved in Men’s Club from simply attending events and spending time with friends to serving on the Men’s Club board. There is always a place for you within your own time demands.  We look forward to meeting you and spending time with you. Come join us!
